WELCOME ADDRESS On behalf of the local organizing committee it is our great pleasure and a special privilege to welcome you on occasion of the 11th International Conference on Osteogenesis imperfecta. This year Conference is held in the city of Dubrovnik – the only existing Middle Age fortress in Europe that is still in everyday function, and the city where medical care for sick and disabled is deeply rooted. Scientific (programme) Committee with President Joan C. Marini ensemble intriguing collection of forty-six podium presentation out of 110 submitted abstracts, by utilizing grading system. We are very thankful to Ms Marini and the members of the Scientific Committee for their hard work in selecting the best papers. We believe that you will find this program covering all facets of Osteogenesis Imperfecta from the current research activities in the most prominent laboratories to the broad spectrum of clinical situations that physicians may have to manage. Besides podium presentations and poster sessions you will have opportunity to enrich your knowledge by attending two key-note lectures and seven invited lectures by leading world experts in their respective fields. Historically, it has been common practice on OI Conferences to have wide range of medical specialists discuss and debate on various aspects of this multi-systemic and life-long disease. We have also preserved close ties with the patient support societies like OIFE and their representatives will have opportunities to address some issues of concerns at the conference We are convinced that you will discover Dubrovnik to be a very special place including the venue of the Conference – Hotel Dubrovnik Palace, where opening welcome reception will take place. We hope that you will enjoy our social program and that you will participate in the Conference dinner on Tuesday evening. The dinner will be held in the Hotel Excelsior that gives spectacular views of the Old Town and the opportunity to fully enjoy excellent food and music. At this moment there are registered participants from 30 countries and five continents.
